The Source For All Things Bridal and In Calgary

TLaw Photography and Inspired Occasions are a dynamic duo in many ways. Terra is able to create and execute dream weddings to the delight of her brides and Terence is able to capture the event flawlessly. The wedding of Jacquie and Ian took place in Banff and when asked for three words to describe her celebration, Jaquie states, ” It was…perfect!”
The couple were not absolutely clear about their vision until they met with Terra at Inspired Occasions and their vision definitely changed and became clearer throughout the planning process. They wanted to share our beautiful Mountain environment with their friends and family, as most of their family from both sides are located on the east coast or in the US. However, the one thing they were very clear about was the venue. The Juniper Hotel was intimate, surrounded by the Rockies in Banff, and maintained natural elements while being clean and modern.
The ceremony décor was kept elegant and complimented the already breathtaking surroundings of Tunnel Mountain Reservoir. The aisle was created with white folding chairs and the aisle lined with red rose kissing balls alternating with stems of chartreuse mini cymbidium orchids. The pine log chuppah was draped with sheer chocolate taffeta and flanked with two arrangements of green apples and curly willow.
When asked about her favorite part of the wedding, Jaquie says, “An amazing extra touch that we knew nothing about was we had green orchids tossed at us as we walked down the aisle as husband and wife. Our fantastic wedding planner, Terra, had piles of orchids left over from our decorations and had sneaked them to our guests along the aisle. We had no idea and it was surreal.”

Happy Friday! Enjoy these powerful images from Calgary Wedding Photographer Geoff Wilkings. This engagement shoot was shot in the Inglewood area. Geoff says, ” Alex and Brad’s engagement shoot was so much fun. Building a connection and laughing is key for an amazing engagement shoot. With huge amounts of love for each they allowed incredible moments to be caught on camera.”
The wedding is set for August of 2012 at the Banff Spring Hotel. We will look forward to seeing those images and sharing with our Calgary Brides. Enjoy the weekend!

You were born aromatic and you live in the valley of romance;
So come and let us share the sweet sense of love. – Edward Kofi Louis
We talk about it all the time – its about the details. It’s all in the details. The FUN is in the details, non? Those little, nondescript nuances that you and maybe one or two of your guests will notice. But they will notice – and they will tell you rain praise on you for being so smart to think of such subtleties. For me – I did little burlap sacks as aisle markers, and they were filled with lavender. I thought the entire courtyard would smell of lavender when I walked down the aisle! Um – not so much. Couldn’t even smell it myself. Oh well! But one wonderful guest bent down to notice them and smelled the lavender. When she pulled me aside to tell me what a sweet detail that was – well. My heart swelled with thanks and pride.
While all the rest of your guests oooh and aaah over the 18th century lace pattern on your tea light holders or the lavender in your aisle markers, your new hubs is going to be noticing every little detail about you. Your earrings. The colour of your lips. The whisps of hair on your neck. These visual details may fade for him, over time (and they may not1) but a chance to leave a lasting impression is absolutely in the way you smell.
No one can deny it – aroma is like a time machine. So naturally, a fragrance is the perfect way to relive your wedding day. Pick something special, something you’ve never worn before. That way, whenever he senses that intoxicating scent, it will instantly take him back to standing at the alter, your hands in his, and declaring your ever lasting love for one another. It’ll will take both of you back to a special place of pure love and happiness.
Here are a few choice suggestions for perfume for your wedding day.
Chance by Chanel Love this fragrance. I own it actually but that’s not the only reason I’m recommending it. This fragrance is unique in that it’s both light and airy but warm and sexy at the same time. It has patchouli, musk and vetiver for that warmth and orris, jasmine and vanilla for something more light. Wonderful for Spring and Summer weddings!
Deep Red by Hugo Boss
Deep Red by Hugo Boss The tagline for this fragrance is “Why wait for him to make the first move?” Saucy!! This is truly an oldie but a goodie and I think it’s time it made a comeback. A classic fragrance for women, it has elements of fruit for sweetness with some warm woody and spicy undertones for sexy and seductive. Great for a Fall or Winter wedding!
Country Chic by Bath & Body Works Bath & Body Works is a great place to pick your wedding day fragrance. Not only are the fragrances a great price point, but they also come with all the extra products under sun, like body lotions, shower gels, hand creams and more. This fragrance has grapefruit, lily, vanilla and cedar!
Victoria’s Secret Angel Another great fragrance that has loads of accessory products available, Angel is a passionate fragrance with sparkling plum, sheer violet and amber, so definitely on the warm and sexy side of things. A nice splurge that will perhaps be a subtle reminder of where he can buy you more gifts, the bottle will always look great on your vanity.

As the deadline for the Love You Back project is fast approaching, we wanted to ensure that you creative brides have submitted your entry to Tara Whittaker from Tara Whittaker Photography. Here is the information once again and watch for the winner who we will post on calgarybride.ca. Good luck!
From Tara Whittaker…
From the moment I transitioned into wedding photography, I decided that every year I would gift one special couple with free wedding photography. I always want to remember my humble beginnings and be grateful for each and every couple that I have the privilege of photographing. If I were engaged myself, wedding photography would be my first priority (right after finding the groom). I know that quality wedding photographers are a big investment and that not everyone can afford a photographer they adore. Last year I collaborated with a like-minded colleague on the Love You Back project, our way of giving back to an industry we love. It ended up being one of the highlights of the season for me. The winners, Sarah & Bryce, stole our hearts. To quote the bride, “the entire wedding day was bliss”.

This year Tara is on the hunt for a couple with loads of personal style, who are willing to show her what’s in store for their wedding and what makes their love so special.
The Rules of Engagement
To be “The Ones” for the Love You Back project you must:
1. Provide Tara with an inspiration board that details your plans and dreams for your upcoming wedding.
2. Be willing to “style-up” your engagement shoot.
3. Be getting married in 2012. If Tara is already booked on your date… sorry!
4. Be getting married in Alberta.
5. Be willing to have your story told on blogs, facebook, twitter etc.
If you’re “The Ones”, your wedding photography will include:
1. 8 hours of coverage on your wedding day by Tara and her assistant.
2. An engagement session.
2. CD of high resolution images with print permissions.
3. A beautiful album telling the story of your day.
4. All travel fees for the photographers.
How Tara is choosing “The Ones”:
“A panel of 3 wedding experts in Calgary will chose the winning inspiration board. We are looking for three things: originality, personality and effort. We would love to see some unique ideas that really tell us about your love story. It doesn’t have to be fancy but show us that you rolled up your sleeves for a chance to win this amazing prize. Submit your entry by email to photography@tarawhittaker.com, type LOVE YOU BACK in the subject line and attach your inspiration board.”
Entry Deadline is February 29th, 2012.
